Are You Living Your Best Life?

Before You Begin Rating Your Wheel of Life...

A word of caution is in order. Self-report questionnaires have advantages and limitations. They are quick and easy to score. On the other hand, people filling them out may portray themselves in a way they want to be perceived, resulting in self-report bias. For example, some people exaggerate and mark all of the options as a “1”, in essence saying, "I''m glad to have a problem so that I can get help or have an excuse for the troubles I have." Others are in denial. They do not want to see any personal flaws and they report all “10’s”, in essence saying, "I''m okay. There''s nothing wrong with me. Leave me alone." Not all self-report bias is intentional. People may genuinely have difficulty recognizing and expressing what is happening in their life. Sometimes family members or friends are better at evaluating a loved one''s level of functioning than a person evaluating him or herself.

Questionnaires of any sort should never be used as the only assessment tool. Use this one as a catalyst to help you think, ask better questions, and get more support if needed.

Please rate the following areas of your life on a scale of 1 to 10.  Rating an area as “1” means that it needs a lot of improvement, and you are not satisfied with your current results.  A rating of “10” is the highest rating an area can receive.  This means you are perfectly happy with this area of your life, and it is not an area of concern for you.  You would prefer to focus on other areas.  While life is filled with ups-and-downs, the ultimate goal is to eventually rate every area of your life as a “10” and live with that rating more often than not.

Your Average Total Life Score:

Now That You've Completed Rating Your Life...

What did you notice about your scores?  Are you happy with your ratings?  What areas of your life are really going well, and what areas need improvement?

When working with my clients, they are often upset the first time they rate themselves.  They feel overwhelmed, angry, depressed, and upset.  While I want you to honor and acknowledge your feelings, I do not want you to get too wrapped up in them at the moment.  It takes a lot of courage to go through this process, and I want you to acknowledge yourself for your efforts and determination to live your best life.

You are doing something that most people never do.  You are taking action.  You are courageous and bold, and, as a result, you are putting the odds in your favor of getting everything you have ever wanted!

Success is not an accident.  Each decision you make will either move you one step forward or one step backward.

You will never remain in the same place.  While it may not seem that way, over time, each decision has an impact on you.  It is like placing money in the bank.  There is a cumulative effect.  In this case, the “interest” is the quality of your life (as one on my clients so eloquently put it).

With determination, a plan and support, you can achieve your BIG dreams and heart’s desires.

You may be on the “right” path, or you may have given up on your goals when you experienced a few challenges.

You may be excited, nervous and everything in-between.  Some of you may be experiencing a bit of regret about having given up on your dreams.  Others may feel as if things are not unfolding quickly enough.  You may feel lost and not sure how to move forward, or you may feel on top of the world and ready to play big!

No matter where you are along the path, I am here to tell you to get excited.

Living the life of your dreams is easier than you ever imagined!  You can have whatever you want in life.

You are the creator, designer, and author
of your own life story.

It is never too late to live the life of your dreams.  Each moment is a new opportunity to do things differently and make a positive change.  You can leave the past behind and transform your life.

Always remember … Baby-steps lead to Quantum Leaps!

Rather than taking on too many things at once, take one (1) small action step each day.  Start small, and build up gradually.  When challenges and setbacks arise, be patient and compassionate with yourself.  Eventually, you will achieve your goals and manifest your heart’s desires.  If you need support, seek out a coach or mentor who can help you create a strategy, hold you accountable, and assist you through your process. Have fun, and remember you are worth it!
